Villetta San Giovanni

A friendly rural gem

Pros: The Villetta is superbly positioned on a hillside overlooking Calatafimi with hills and valleys all around. The 5 acre grounds include an orange grove which provided us with fresh orange juice every morning, strawberries, lettuces and a chicken run with very productive hens - fresh eggs for breakfast every day! It is comfortably furnished, if a little old-fashioned. It is very well situated for trips to the Temples at Segesta and Selinunte as well as the beach at Castellammare. Andrea is an excellent host, full of local knowledge, happy to provide both fresh ricotta and a recipe for supper. If he offers a half day tour of old Calatafimi, take it up! He is fascinating and seems to have friends who will open up museums especially for him. He took us to interesting parts that we would never have found on our own.

Cons: We did not do this as Andrea told us not too, but do not approach the driveway to the Villetta from the south as the road is very bad. Always approach it from Calatafimi.

Pros: A warm and generous welcome from Andrea to his simple but adequately equipped spacious country cottage. A most enjoyable stay.

Incredible place and amazing host

Pros: We were looking for a quiet place in the countryside and we found paradise. Villetta San Giovanni is located ca. 4 km from Calatafimi-Segesta (a car is a must) on a hill, facing the town and the countryside. It is calm and quiet, during the night you can enjoy stars above you. The house is very spacious and well equipped. Andrea is an excellent host, very friendly and always willing to help. We loved the garden with lots of fruit and vegetables and it was great to have an opportunity to take care of the chickens and collect the eggs

Pros: Es ist ein wunderschöner Ort, perfekt um sich zu entspannen. Der Gastgeber ist sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und das habe ich noch nie erlebt: Er hat uns einfach Frühstück und Käse geschenkt. Wir durften Orangen pflücken und hatten eine tolle Zeit!

Pros: Der Gastgeber Andrea ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Hat uns unten im Ort abgeholt und wir sind ihm hinterher gefahren. Der Weg zum Haus ist fast Insiderwissen und abenteuerlich zu befahren, aber man gewöhnt sich daran. Das mag aber daran gelegen haben, dass es wohl 1 Tag vorher hier unwetterartig geregnet hat. Die Lage des Hauses ist einzigartig, man hat das ganze Tal zu Füßen liegen. Leider konnten wir aufgrund des starken Nordwinds die Terrasse nicht so nutzen. Es gibt einen aufgestellten Pool und ein, etwas höher liegendes Naturschwimmbad. Küche ist mit allem ausgestattet. Die Hühner haben leider keine Eier gelegt in den 6 Tagen, aber ich habe sie trotzdem gerne gefüttert. Alle Räume mit Klimaanlage.

Cons: Beleuchtung im Bad schrecklich, vielleicht gibt es hier die Möglichkeit, eine zusätzliche Lampe zu installieren, lieber Andrea. Ein neuer Duschvorhang wäre gut. Mit einem Mietwagen vorsichtig fahren, das letzte Stück der Zufahrt ist total uneben mit Schlaglöchern. Einrichtung schon in die Jahre gekommen, Matratzen sind gut. Handtücher, wie schon von jemandem beschrieben, dringend erneuern.

Pros: Prachtige locatie!! Een huis met een ziel en een heel sympathieke eigenaar.

Paradies mit traumhafter Ruhe

Pros: Wir bräuchten Ruhe znd Entspannung. - Genau das hat es uns gebracht. Es liegt ziemlich zentral, um viele Orte zu besichtigen. Und Andrea ist ein Super Host - immer für uns da, typisch sizilianische Gastfreundschaft.

Splnilo očekávání, děkujeme.

Pros: Užili jsme si klid v podobě sicilského venkova. Štědrost majitele Andrea, který byl velice ochotný a milý. Každé ráno čerstvá vejce a také pomeranče a citróny. Určitě se rádi vrátíme.

Hjælpsom, gæstfri, venlig ejer og et virkelig fantastisk menneske.

Pros: Ejeren er meget sød , hjælpsom og venlig. Ejeren kom med diverse ting til os, heriblandt en fantastisk sciciliansk ret, som han selv havde lavet. Vi fik friske æg om morgenen.

Cons: Vejen til huset er ikke helt god. Svømmenpollen trængte til at blive renset.

Pros: La posizione e la cordialità di Andrea; la presenza della piscina ci ha aiutato a sopportare il caldo di una settimana difficile e la possibilità di raccogliere e mangiare uova fresche direttamente dal pollaio!

Cons: Un consiglio affettuoso ad Andrea: migliorare la biancheria e le stoviglie. Per il resto l’aspetto vintage dell’ arredamento, la presenza della veranda attrezzata e delle zanzariere hanno contribuito a rendere piacevole il nostro soggiorno. Buona estate , Andrea, da tutti noi😎
