The apartment would get 10/10, the area 0/10

Pros: The apartment is large, very clean, and has everything you need. With the exception of the very soft mattresses there is absolutely nothing to criticise. Many attractions, like the cathedral, are nearby.

Cons: The area. It is run down with buildings falling apart. Pavements are in a very poor condition which makes walking difficult. There are goings-on throughout the night, to an extent that it made us very uncomfortable indeed walking about after dark.

Pros: Walking distance from the train station, Palazzo dei Normanni, Quattro Canti. The Ballaro market around the corner offers amazing fresh food. The apartment is very clean and quiet. Ideal for resting.

Cons: The surrounding area could be better maintained, but this is a general problem of the city of Palermo, not of the apartment (a real gem).

Consigliata!

Consigliatissima!
